Hi Reader,
If you’ve updated your resume, refreshed LinkedIn, and started applying for jobs but you’re not hearing much back it might be because you're trying to pick the “perfect” roles and not putting enough resumes out there.
In other words, you're only applying to 2-3 jobs per week and when nothing happens, it feels personal.
So let’s talk about what actually works.
If you’re actively looking for work, aim for 15–25 applications per week.
I know that sounds like a lot.
But applying to a few “perfect” jobs and then waiting is what keeps you stuck.
Here’s why volume matters:
1️⃣ Momentum Protects Your Confidence
- Applying consistently means no single job defines you.
- You’re in motion and motion builds confidence.
2️⃣ Volume Builds Skill
- You need repetition, low-stakes conversations, and chances to refine your story.
- Volume builds skill and skill builds confidence.
3️⃣ Volume Interrupts Overthinking
- Make your goal is 15–25 applications per week
- Don't give yourself time to second guess
- You’re looking for reasonable fit. If you can do 60–70% of the role then apply.
This isn’t about lowering your standards.
It’s about increasing your data.
If you’ve been home for years, the biggest hurdle isn’t your resume.
It’s inertia.
Volume breaks inertia.
